Lesley McDonald

Lesley (Hoochie)  In Feb of 2006 Hoochie started skating with Canada's first league the Oil City Derby Girls after seeing a show on TV that month about the sport and decided it was the perfect time to start a mid life crisis. In 2007 and 2008 Hoochie sat as the league president. In 2008 she founded the Red Deer Roller Derby Assoc and in 2011 was instrumental in developing and forming the first Jr league in Canada with Edmonton’s E-Ville Roller Derby. It later split off onto its own body, GEJRDA .

In May of 2008 Hoochie organized and skated with the first Team Canada travelling to England and Scotland. Due to issues with the then insurance provider in 2009 Hoochie formed the Canadian Women's Roller Derby Assoc (CWRDA). CWRDA bought together the majority of Canadian teams under a derby umbrella to obtain better services and rates for teams and skaters needing coverage to play derby and to travel.

In 2013 CRDi split off from CWRDA and incorporated as a derby owned and derby run enterprise that currently covers 95% of derby teams in Canada.

In September 2019, WFTDi and WFTDA expanded into Canada with the acquisition of CRDi. Retired from derby in 2017, Lesley will continue to provide assistance to skaters and leagues as the Canadian Representative.
